RENEWABLE ENERGY JOBS
Renewable Energy Jobs are a major part of growing the Renewable Energy Industry. All the major economic changes in history, from the industrial revolution to the communications revolution, the renewable energy industry will be as influential as any other. Society seems to benefit the most from a growing renewable energy industry and renewable energy jobs will come with it. Solpower jobs believes that producing clean electricity is going to be the focus and most influential part of the Renewable Energy Industry. Running cars on electricity is going to have a profound impact on the environment and renewable energy jobs. The technology will grow and with the technology an infrastructure needed to support this change will also create more Renewable Energy jobs.
RENEWABLE ENERGY JOBS INFORMATION- STASTICS
"Renewable energy accounts for the employment, directly or indirectly, of 2.3 million people worldwide, with the largest gains made where governments support renewables, according to a Worldwatch Institute study.
Using current available data, the study estimates there are one million biomass and biofuel jobs, 624,000 solar thermal jobs, 300,000 wind jobs and 170,000 solar photovoltaic jobs. Figures include jobs directly in the renewable sector and jobs indirectly related, such as suppliers that provide equipment components.
The data is incomplete due to the fact that one can't look at traditional economic statistics to see the number of renewables jobs, Renner said.
Using what's available, the Worldwatch study shows Germany has 259,000 renewables jobs (a figures estimated to grow to 500,000 by 2020), Spain has 89,000 direct and 99,000 indirect jobs, and the United States, due mostly to support from individual states, had 200,000 direct and 246,000 indirect jobs in 2006.
Renner notes that as renewables jobs have expanded, employment in the coal, oil and natural gas industries have shrunk. In the past 20 years, output of coal has grown by one-third while the number of coal jobs was slashed in half.
Long-term outlooks put the number of wind energy jobs by 2030 at 2.1 million and solar jobs by that same year at 6.3 million. More people will be employed not only in manufacturing wind turbines and solar panels, the study says, but in installing, operating and maintaining the equipment, all jobs that will contribute to local employment growth. Kenya, for example, has 10 large solar photovoltaic companies and 1,000-2,000 solar technicians.
Even though governments have supported the growth of renewables, Renner pointed out that at least in one case, government does not need to increase or maintain high subsidies.
"In Germany for example, the level at which alternative energy, solar, wind and so on are being subsidized deceases each year," he said. "The key is it provide the overall framework that allows investors to say, 'This is something that is not going to lose money forever, this really is a good prospect...this can stand on its own feet.'"
Other factors that have helped renewables grow are guaranteeing renewable energy will be available from the grid and setting guaranteed rates for buying renewable energy." Source www.greenbiz.com/news
RENEWABLE ENERGY JOBS AND
TYPES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY JOBS
Renewable Energy jobs are as important as the green movement. Without Renewable Energy jobs the sustainable economy with be less productive. Finding talented individuals for these positions is important for the growth of the Renewable Energy Industry
Below is a list of types of renewable energy and areas where you can find renewable energy jobs. These renewable energy categories are a important to understand before choosing a renewable energy job.
Wind has been used for centuries to power equipment. Wind is unfortunately not constant. If you put a wind turbine in an area that is flat like the Midwest, you will not get as much energy from the turbines as you would from a turbine in an area near offshore or high altitude sites. Wind energy is wonderful because it produces no greenhouse gases.
The energy in water is a kinetic energy, with temperature differences or salinity gradients. Water is about 800 times thicker then water even small movements create substantial amounts of energy. Hydroelectric energy is produced by dams across the country, such as the Grand Coulee Dam. In the Solomon Islands they use micro hydro systems to produce power. There are also damless hydro systems for places that do not have dams. Ocean energy uses energy from tides. With the water level in the basin changing it moves the turbine up and down or from side to side to produce energy. Since the ocean is ever-changing and moving, it is a great source for energy.
From heating buildings to converting the power for electricity, solar power is a powerful energy source. When you have solar panels attached to your house or building you can convert the energy generated by the sun into electricity. Solar power has been used since the beginning of time. Using solar power we can heat food through solar ovens, heat and cool buildings through solar chimneys, and heat and cool water through solar-thermal panels. With technology growing everyday, we are only beginning to tap the use of solar power.
Miles deep in the earth’s crust there are pockets of heat. There are three types of power plants that generate power from geothermal energy: dry steam, flash, and binary. Dry steam plants get energy from steam coming out of fractures in the ground and putting it through generator that spins because of a direct drive turbine. Flash plants takes underground water with the temperature usually over 390 degrees Fahrenheit, and puts the steam through the turbines to generate power. In binary plants the boiling underground water flows through turbines that spin. With all these systems the water that is not used is injected back into the earth to pick up more heat and repeat the process.
Renewable energy jobs and green jobs are a major of socially responsible jobs. With the green movement, green jobs will become a pillar of our economy. Renewable Energy jobs are becoming a major politics importance.
Renewable Energy is a small percentage of the total energy used in the United States.
